Málaga is a popular city in Spain, known for its good weather, its traditions, its culture and its people… This city on the Costa del Sol is home to spectacular beaches where you can relax, as well as all sorts of historical monuments waiting to be discovered. For this reason, you’ll find it very easy to organise your holiday in Málaga and learn about much of the city’s history.

Whether you’re here to enjoy the beaches and sights, or to attend the city’s major events, the Hotel Romerito offers the ideal base. We are just a 10–15-minute drive from the airport (AGP) and barely 1 km from the Exhibition and Conference Centre and the Municipal Auditorium. If you’re travelling on business, you’ll have quick access to the Technology Park, the main industrial estates, the Transport Centre and the Virgen de la Victoria Hospital. And if you’d like to explore the history and culture of the city centre (around 6 km away), you’ll find it very convenient: there’s a stop for bus route 20 right on our doorstep.

From the airport

We are located just 6 km (a 15-minute drive) from Málaga Airport. You’ll find it very easy to find us if you’re flying into Málaga.

Hiring a car to get to the Hotel Romerito – and to explore every corner of Málaga – is undoubtedly a sure-fire way to ensure your comfort. The hotel offers a selection of car hire companies to assist you during your stay. Furthermore, our hotel has a large car park where you can park your car.

As you leave the airport or the port, you’ll find a taxi rank. There, simply give the driver our address and you’ll arrive at our hotel in just 15 minutes.

Right opposite our hotel you’ll find a bus stop – on route 20 – which offers excellent connections. It’s certainly another easy way to get around Málaga, as it provides excellent links to other buses, key locations in the city and the centre of Málaga, shopping centres, coach stations and María Zambrano railway station.

Choosing to explore Málaga by bike is a great way to discover this beautiful city. It allows you to reach its most hidden corners, whilst also enjoying a leisurely ride thanks to the cycle lanes throughout the city.

The Costa del Sol

Málaga is one of the nine regions that make up the Costa del Sol in southern Spain. The Costa del Sol was a pioneer in the Spanish tourism industry and, ever since, Málaga has been one of the most popular places in Spain for enjoying a lovely holiday.

The beaches of the Costa del Sol are characterised by their beautiful golden sands and crystal-clear waters, which will make you never want to leave these spectacular oases.

Historic Centre of Málaga

Málaga’s old town is the ideal place to discover all the charms of this beautiful city. Its main street is Marqués de Larios, which has a special charm thanks to its spectacular architecture. Here you’ll also find a wide range of shops where you can enjoy a day’s shopping.

Another must-see are the city’s best-known squares, such as Plaza de la Constitución. This is the perfect spot to enjoy authentic Andalusian cuisine or a refreshing drink on one of its sun-drenched terraces.

The Roman Theatre in Málaga

One of Málaga’s most important historical monuments is the Roman Theatre, situated in the city centre, just a few metres from the Alcazaba hill. Although these ruins date back to the 1st century BC, they were not discovered until 1951.

This site will fascinate history lovers. These are the archaeological remains of ancient Malaca, the main preserved relic in the city of Málaga. Admission is free and it is open all year round, except on Mondays.

The Alcazaba of Málaga

The Alcazaba of Málaga is a palatial fortification from the Islamic period in the city and one of the most visited sites in southern Spain. It was commissioned by the Berber Taifa king of Granada between 1057 and 1063.

One of its notable features is the use of materials from the Roman Theatre of Málaga in its construction. Its name derives from the Arabic meaning of the word: citadel.

Museums in Málaga

Málaga is a city brimming with art and culture. As a result, there are countless museums to be found amongst its beautiful streets. One of the best-known is the Picasso Museum, a former palace housing an exhibition of works by the great Málaga-born artist. It’s very easy to visit: it’s open every day of the week from 10am to 6pm.

But there are also other museums in Málaga that are well worth a visit, such as the Carmen Thyssen Museum in Málaga. It is a Renaissance palace where you’ll find a variety of works by Spanish and international artists.

Beaches of Málaga

A trip to Málaga is all about finding days of fine weather to relax and enjoy the sun and the sea. That’s why we’d like to recommend some of Málaga’s most beautiful beaches. Pedregalejo Beach is a fine example, with its dark sand and urban atmosphere.

You’ll also have an unforgettable day at La Malagueta Beach, which offers a range of facilities including beach bars, changing rooms and lifeguards.

Charming Villages

The beauty of Málaga extends beyond its capital. Just a short drive from the Hotel Romerito, you can visit some of Spain’s most charming villages. From spectacular inland villages nestled in the mountains to picturesque historic spots by the sea.

These villages have a special charm and are considered among the most beautiful in Spain, such as Ronda, Nerja and Frigiliana, to name but a fewrs.

Our hotel is very close to the exhibition centre – just a few minutes’ walk away – as well as the Municipal Auditorium. So if you’re planning to attend a concert or event, Hotel Romerito is the perfect place to stay.
